Making Sense of Percent provides the teacher with strategies, activities, and games to help students better understand percent. Area and linear models are used not only to introduce and reinforce percent concepts, but also to help students learnto solve problems involving percent. Students are encouraged to visualize the percent quantity using static and variable models as well as elastic strips. Main unit topics of focus include Percent Models, Percent Computations, Percent and Common Sense,and Percent Games.
