Engaging cross-curricular activities are designed to expand a child’s view from self to family, to community, and to world. The four units in the book are Me, My Family, My Classroom Community, and My World. Within these units, several social studies concepts are introduced: identity, culture, time, geography, civics, relationships, economics, and environments. At the same time, several character traits are also addressed: self-discipline, honesty/integrity, perseverance/determination, courage, compassion, kindness, courtesy, respect, fairness, responsibility, and citizenship.
