Easter – A PALETTE OF INFORMATION

Story elements (character, setting, problem, and solution)
Activity:
Discuss the story elements together and put on a large piece of tagboard, which is cut in the shape of an artists’ palette. Cut four large circles from brightly colored construction paper to represent each story part. Hang up with the display ideas on page 164
- Characters – Eggbert and the other eggs
- Setting – in the refrigerator and various places outdoors
- Problem – Eggbert was cracked and his friends told him to leave
- Solution – Eggbert accepts his flaw (being cracked) and is proud of it.
Art Center Extension:
Have an art easel, smock, beret, paints, and a brush for your “little artists” to create masterpieces!

EGGBERT’S TRAVELS

Activity:
At the end of the story, Eggbert enjoyed going places and painting pictures of his travels on postcards to send back to the other eggs. He especially liked places with cracks. (Example in the book: the Grand Canyon) Where else might Eggbert like to go?
Give each student an 8 in. x 10 in. piece of tagboard, posterboard, or white card stock to use for a postcard. Have each student draw on one side of the card a picture of where Eggbert might like to go. They will need a small piece of a sentence strip to write the place where Eggbert goes. Hang with display (next page).
Extension: These may be sent home after being on display. Write a letter and add a stamp! (It is too big for the postcard rate.)
Home…
Find places inside or outside of your home that Eggbert would like to go. Put a sticker there. Write about his adventures (example: Tile in the bathroom, sidewalk, etc.)
