Readers’ Theater productions offer teachers the flexibility of casting more than one reader for each role as a way to support emerging readers. The 15 Grade 1 Readers’ Theater scripts also include these features that provide additional support for emerging readers: <\/p>\n

  • Simple rhyming text helps increase predictability of the text in the script for “Too Much Noise!”, a traditional Jewish folktale. \n
  • Scripts based on familiar folktales such as “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” “The Little Red Hen,” and “The Three Little Pigs” increase students’ comfort with read-aloud material. \n
  • A patterned story structure and repeating choral refrain help support beginning readers in “Out in the Woods.” \n
  • Size 8.5″ X 11″ (144 Pages)\n

    The 15 Grade 4 Readers’ Theater scripts are as follows: <\/p>\n

  • “Louis Pasteur: A Scientist Serving Humanity”-an episode from childhood sheds light on the later work of this great scientist \n
  • “The Girls of the Round Table”-a contemporary story to spark discussion about character and values \n
  • “The Farmer, His Son, and Their Donkey”-based on a classic fable about the value of being true to yourself \n
  • “Keelboat Annie”-featuring a tall tale about a larger-than-life African American legend \n
  • “An Underwater Web of Life”-a lyrical script in a cumulative form gives voice to living beings in a marine food web \n
  • “How Coyote Brought Fire to the People: A Native American Legend”-based on a trickster tale from the Karok people \n
  • “The Sager Children”-based on true events in the lives of pioneers in the Oregon Territory \n
  • “The Timekeepers”-in his dream, a watchmaker learns how time was measured in ancient civilizations \n
  • “Sojourner Truth: A Life Devoted to Justice”-vignettes from the life of this famous African American orator include actual words from her “Ain’t I a Woman?” speech \n
  • “How Animals Got Their Beautiful Coats”-based on a classic Zulu pour quoi tale \n
  • “The Chance of a Lifetime”-a modern fairy tale of a girl who uses her math skills to make a dream come true \n
  • “The Emperor’s New Clothes”-use this classic fable to spark discussion about peer pressure and values \n
  • “Sarah’s Gold”-an independent-minded young woman travels `round the Horn to seek her fortune in California’s Gold Rush \n
  • “The Boy Who Drew Cats”-based on a classic Japanese tale about the importance of being true to yourself \n
  • “The Story of the Chestnut Tree”-children learn about the lessons from one of America’s biggest ecological disasters
