Readers’ Theater productions offer teachers the flexibility of casting more than one reader for each role as a way to support emerging readers. The 15 Grade 1 Readers’ Theater scripts also include these features that provide additional support for emerging readers: <\/p>\n

  • Simple rhyming text helps increase predictability of the text in the script for “Too Much Noise!”, a traditional Jewish folktale. \n
  • Scripts based on familiar folktales such as “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” “The Little Red Hen,” and “The Three Little Pigs” increase students’ comfort with read-aloud material. \n
  • A patterned story structure and repeating choral refrain help support beginning readers in “Out in the Woods.” \n
  • Size 8.5″ X 11″ (144 Pages)\n

    The 15 Grade 3 Readers’ Theater scripts are as follows: <\/p>\n

  • “Spider Woman and the Gift of the Loom”-based on a Navajo legend \n
  • “A Wild Day”-a family vacations in a Florida wildlife refuge \n
  • “B. W. Hawkins and the Dinosaur Models”-based on dinosaur discoveries in England in the 1850s \n
  • “The Amazing Laundry Hamper”-this modern adaptation of a Grimm’s tale teaches a lesson in character \n
  • “It Happened at Hull House”-based on Jane Addams’ humanitarian work in the 1890s \n
  • “Davy Crockett: Fact or Legend?”-a television game show looks at the life of an American legend \n
  • “A Riddle-Maker Saves the Day”-based on a Vietnamese folktale \n
  • “The Walking Sticks Buy Shoes”-an economics lesson, set in the insect world \n
  • “It’s the Pits!”-an imaginative adventure set in the La Brea Tar Pits \n
  • “Yankee Doodle Hits the Road”-a journalist joins George Washington on the journey to his inauguration in New York City \n
  • “Brer Rabbit Shares His Crops”-based on a trickster tale from the African American oral tradition \n
  • “Space Camp Is a Blast!”-a contemporary adventure set at Space Camp \n
  • “Putting It Together”-a business plan helps young entrepreneurs meet their goals \n
  • “Those Magnificent Counting Machines”-in the year 2050, computers tell students about the history of artificial intelligence \n
