Readers’ Theater productions offer teachers the flexibility of casting more than one reader for each role as a way to support emerging readers. The 15 Grade 1 Readers’ Theater scripts also include these features that provide additional support for emerging readers: <\/p>\n

  • Simple rhyming text helps increase predictability of the text in the script for “Too Much Noise!”, a traditional Jewish folktale. \n
  • Scripts based on familiar folktales such as “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” “The Little Red Hen,” and “The Three Little Pigs” increase students’ comfort with read-aloud material. \n
  • A patterned story structure and repeating choral refrain help support beginning readers in “Out in the Woods.” \n
  • Size 8.5″ X 11″ (144 Pages)\n

  • “John Chapman”-two pioneer children meet Johnny Appleseed \n
  • “Crow’s Potlatch”-a Salish trickster tale to spark a discussion of values \n
  • “Earth’s Seven Continents”-a rhyming script brings Earth to life \n
  • “Febold Feboldson Saves Nebraska from Drought”-a Midwestern tall tale \n
  • “The Statue of Liberty”-this script takes you to Lady Liberty’s unveiling \n
  • “The Foolish Little Hare: A Fable”-India’s version of “Chicken Little” \n
  • “Don’t Forget Zero”-a contemporary script with a numerical cast \n
  • “How Anansi Brought Stories to Earth”-starring a favorite African trickster \n
  • “The Little Pollinators”-a close-up look at pollination in process \n
  • “George Washington Carver”-spells out this notable African American’s contributions to science \n
  • “The Giant Squash and the Erie Canal”-an unusual tall tale \n
  • “Lion Dancer”-a contemporary script about the value of traditions and family \n
