A Little Bit About Frank Schaffer Publications!
In 1972 Frank Schaffer had been teaching for 22 years. He was a reading consultant in an elementary school during the day, and at night he taught extension courses at Pepperdine University.
The teachers taking the course, frustrated in their efforts to jot down all of his ideas, asked Frank to put his teaching strategies in writing. So Frank sat down and wrote a 96-page book, Fun and Games with Reading. One thousand loose-leaf copies were printed. These copies were collated in the Schaffer living room by Frank, his wife, Marilyn, and their five sons. Frank Schaffer Publications was born!
Through the years, Frank’s products have become increasingly popular with teachers and parents, and Frank has become a living legend in the education industry. In fact, he has been referred to as “the Walt Disney of Education.” His vision of providing affordable educational materials that were both fun and motivating for young children was the beginning of the supplemental education industry as we know it today. Frank Schaffer Publications has become the largest and most widely recognized publisher of educational materials in the United States.
