Description
The Keys to Unlocking Words is a tools that can be used for effective word solving strategy instruction. Teachers explicitly teach and model the strategy on each key and support the reader in his attempt to apply the strategy. Although the Strategies on each key are taught separately, they support and build on each other. The Keys to Unlocking Words help children to draw internally and automatically on a repertoire of strategies demonstrating flexibility when they read. They develop and understanding that when they are trying to figure out a word, it’s like using a key to unlock it and that sometimes it takes more than one strategy to unlock a word, just like finding the right key to unlock a door. Includes 5 student keys and a Teacher’s Guide.
