What a surprise! Word problems can be fun! Zip Around: Money involves the whole class in speaking distinctly, listening carefully, and computing quickly. One person reads, "You have a nickel, a dime, and three pennies. What is the total value?" The player with the answer announces, "I have 18" and reads, "I had five nickels and spent 11 cents. How much is left?" No one wants to be caught napping as the problems and answers zip around the room. Each of the 32 cards contains four levels of difficulty. Can be played with the entire class, in small groups, or as solitaire.
