Zendo (game)
Zendo is a game of inductive logic designed by Kory Heath, in which the Master creates a rule and the Students attempt to discover it by building and studying arrangements of pyramids. The first student to correctly state the rule wins.The game is played with a set of Icehouse pieces (four colors (aka stashes) are recommended) and several marking stones in black, white, and another color (usually green). The rules are available for free on the World Wide Web, Icehouse pyramids can be purchased or hand-made.
Zendo is also available as a complete boxed-set from Looney Labs. The set contains 60 Icehouse pyramids in red, yellow, green, and blue, 60 glass stones, and a small deck of cards containing simple rules to start with. Zendo was also published in Playing with Pyramids, a book by Looney Labs containing rules and strategies for a dozen of the best games you can play with Icehouse pieces.
Term origin and disambiguation: In Zen philosophy, a zendo is a meditation hall. More generally, any place where people go to practice Zen (or play Zendo). For the enlightened, the entire world is a Zendo.
