Yoshida Shoin

Yoshida Shoin (吉田 松陰 1830-1859) is a Japanese scholar and teacher.

Born in Choshu domain, he, after released from house arrest, opened a private school, Shoka Sonjyuku to teach the youth military arts and politics.

In 1859, he was executed.
