Wladyslaw Szpilman

Wladyslaw Szpilman (December 5, 1911 - July 6, 2000) was a Polish pianist.

He was born in Sosnowiec, Poland, to a family of Jews.

He died in Warsaw, Poland.

His autobiography The Pianist, detailing his life in hiding from the Germans during the Nazi occupation, was made into a movie by Roman Polanski in 2002.
