Whitespace

In computer science, a whitespace (or a whitespace character) is any characters which do not display themselves; but, do take up space and influence where following text is displayed; for example: the character symbol " ", which is a blank space; of the text background color (which is usually white). Such white-spaces are generated by space keys, tabs, and the like. Within computer code, white-space characters are generally ignored by free-form languages.
