Touchstone Pictures

A division of The Walt Disney Company devoted to producing films that would be unsuitable for release under the Disney name.

Founded by Ron Miller in 1984, the company's first release was Splash, a huge hit for the studio. The unit became a top source of income for Disney during the 1980s. Their first R-rated film, Ruthless People, came in 1986 and was a smash. Touchstone is still an active unit of the company today.
