The Killing Fields
The Killing Fields (1984) is an award-winning dramatic
film about the
Cambodian aftermath of the
Vietnam War, based on the experience of real-life journalist Sydney Schanberg. The film, which won 3
Academy Awards, was directed by Rolland Joffe and stars
Sam Waterston, Haing S. Ngor,
John Malkovich, and Julian Sands. Ngor won the
Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role;
cinematographer Chris Menges won an
Academy Award for Best Cinematography. The film also won for Best Editing.
