Steve Mann
Self-proclaimed "first cyborg" Steve Mann (born 1962) is a life-long devotee of human-centric computing. He has worn some form of interface (between the eye/brain and world) since the late 1970s.Mann is currently a professor at the University of Toronto.
Another professor with some similar interests is Kevin Warwick who is believed to be the first person to have an identity microchip implanted, which enables him to interact with the environment.
The claim that he is the first cyborg can be disputed. Any organism incorporating artificial and natural elements in a homeostatic system is a cyborg, according to Manfred Clynes who coined the term. A mouse with an osmotic pump was the first named cyborg, but many systems before and since have met that definition.
