Statesman
A statesman is a respected leader of a country, though the term is sometimes used for a leader in a particular field of study. Statesmen became more important as governments moved from monarchy to republic.One can use the word "statesman" as a euphemism for the word "politician".
Aristotle said, "What the statesman is most anxious to produce is a certain moral character in his fellow citizens, namely a disposition to virtue and the performance of virtuous actions."
