South Gloucestershire is an Unitary Authority Area (UAA), created in 1996 when the adminstrative county of Avon was abolished. It is north of the city of Bristol. South Gloucestershire is a part of the traditional and ceremonial counties of Gloucestershire.
South Gloucestershire covers an area of 497 km2 and is home to around 250,000 people.
