Singapore Area Licensing Scheme

The Singapore Area Licensing Scheme charges drivers entering downtown Singapore, and thereby aims to manage vehicle traffic. It is one of a number of anti-congestion policies that has operated in Singapore since the 1970s.

The government's independent transport advisers have also suggested that all cars should be fitted with a satellite tracking meter to charge drivers up to 45p a mile as part of radical proposals to slash congestion through the entire country.
