Sherman Silver Purchase Act
The Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890 required the Treasury Department to purchase and coin 4.5 million ounces of silver per month and pay for it with legal tender, treasury notes redeemable in gold. This law was a victory for silver forces and inflationists.See also:
