Sea ice

Sea ice is ocean water that freezes, near the earth's north pole and south pole. The north pole is always covered in sea ice, although there are plenty of holes year round. The south pole has that big hunk of land in it, called Antarctica, which is actually a huge continent although not as big as looks in flat maps.

Sea ice may be contrasted with icebergs, which are chunks of glaciers that fell into the ocean.
