Saturn (car)

General Motors set up its Saturn automobile manufacturing division in 1990, largely to face stiff competition from Japanese manufacturers, especially for smaller vehicles. With Saturn, GM attempted to do something different, and to avoid the conventions of typical American car-making.

Saturn has kept some distinction in car sales because from the outset it had a "no-nonsense" approach to selling cars. Saturn has had simple straightforward pricing for its cars, without the complicated dealing and negotiating for which nearly all other car dealers have been infamous.

In 2004, Saturn will be coming out with high-performance "Red-Line" variants of the ION and VUE. The Relay mini-van will be introduced for the 2005 model year.
