Primal therapy
Primal therapy is a term created by Dr.
Arthur Janov and designates an original form of
psychological treatment which focuses on a patient's
emotions and feelings. During the treatment the patient is
encouraged to cry, scream, beat objects and to express deep
non-verbal feelings with his body. During the process the patient will relive early painful past events, including those that occured during birth and womb life. As a result, primal theory suggests that a patient will experience resolution of psychological problems and therefore feel better. Proponents of the therapy suggest that predictable improvements of a patient's vital signs will be observable.
