Preston

Preston is the administrative capital of Lancashire in the North West of England. The city is located on the Ribble river.

Preston is famous for, among other things, its large bus station with 79 gates and is popular with Suicide Jumpers, St Walburge's Church, the tallest church in England at 94 metres tall, and Preston North End Football Club. City status was granted to Preston in 2002.

According to World Gazetteer, the population of Preston as of 2002 was about 183,400.

Every 20 years, a famous celebration called the Preston Guild takes place. The last Guild celebration took place in 1992 and the next is due in 2012.
