Portesham
Portesham is situated between
Weymouth,
Bournemouth and
Dorchester as the main towns on
Britain's Southern Coast. Nearby towns include
Abbotsbury and Blackdown which is home to Hardy's Monument, errected in honour of one of
Lord Nelson's commanders from
Trafalgar. Many believe that Nelson famously said to Hardy "kiss me Hardy". Howver this was probably not so. It is more likely that his words were "kismet Hardy", meaning "Fate, Hardy". Portesham is also in walking distance of the
Jurassic Coast.
