Phillip H. Sheridan
Phillip H. Sheridan (March 6, 1831 - 1888) was an American cavalry officer during the Civil War, most notable the Battle of Cold Harbor.After the Civil War, Sheridan played a major role in the Plains Indian Wars. He was Gen. George Armstrong Custer's superior officer.
Sheridan County, Kansas, as well as the city of Sheridan, Wyoming were named in his honor.
