The novel is set in the contemporary, post-dotcom world, mostly in London. Its heroine has a unique talent to feel the hipness of corporate logos and judges new ones for a living. She is drawn into the mystery around snippets of a movie that are placed at random locations on the net for the "footages" growing fan base to find. Elegantly written and paced, Pattern Recognition also describes characters in a post 9-11 world.
