Night and Fog (movie)

Night and Fog (original French title Nuit et brouillard) is a 1955 documentary film contrasting the placidity of the post-Holocaust concentration camp at Auschwitz with the events that occurred there during World War II, and musing on the diffusion of guilt. The film is in French, in color and black and white, is 32 minutes long, and was directed by Alain Resnais.

The film takes its title from the German Nacht und Nebel (Night and Fog) prisoners during World War II. While viewers might expect the film to be about the prisoners' stories, it deals briefly with their conditions and focuses primarily on questions of hate and human responsibility.
