New York World's Fair

There have been two World's fairs in New York City:

• 1939 New York World's Fair (1939-1940) at Flushing Meadow in Queens gave us Futurama and the Trylon and Perisphere. David Gelertner has written a fictionalized account of the fair 'The Lost World of the Fair'

• 1964 New York World's Fair (1964-1965), also at Flushing Meadow Queens. One of its more memorable structures was the Unisphere.

The site became a park and home to New York's Shea Stadium where the New York Mets play.
