Nanga Parbat

Nanga Parbat (also known as Nangaparbat Peak or Diamir) at 8,125m/26,658' is the ninth highest mountain on Earth. Nanga Parbat is located in the Himalayas of Pakistan at 35°14'N 74°36'E. Nanga Parbat means "Naked Mountain".

Nanga Parbat was first climbed on July 3, 1953 by Hermann Buhl of a German-Austrian team. However, Buhl's expedition paid a heavy price with the loss of 11 climbers and 15 porters. Before this expedition, 31 people had already died trying to make the first ascent.
