Nakano (中野区; -ku) is a special ward located in Tokyo, Japan. It lies just west of the crowded Shinjuku area.
As of 2003, the ward has an estimated population of 313,325 and the density of 20,097.82 persons per km². The total area is 15.59 km².
The ward was founded on March 15, 1947.
