Minneapolis is the largest city in
Minnesota.
St. Paul is the capital of Minnesota. The region is the 15th-largest metropolitan area in the
United States as of the
2000 census. The population of the Twin Cities area is nearly three million people (2,968,805). The Minneapolis-St.Paul Metropolitan Statistical Area comprises thirteen counties:
- Anoka,
- Carver,
- Chisago,
- Dakota,
- Hennepin,
- Isanti,
- Ramsey,
- Scott,
- Sherburne,
- Washington, and
- Wright Counties in Minnesota; and
- Pierce and
- St. Croix Counties in Wisconsin.
