Media restriction
Media restriction is the controversial act of controlling over what media one or two persons or audiences are allowed to view, such as computer and video games, motion pictures, television programs, animes, books, and Web sites. It is usually applied in terms of violence, profanity, sexual content, nudity, castration, horror, drug abuse, thematic elements, and other forms of objectionable or controversial content (such as occultism and religious content, and other content that rating systems do not rate media for). Media restriction is often done by religious parents and guardians on the basis of the teachings of Christianity, such as Restorationist Christian denominations. Media restriction on the basis of Christianity is a form of censorship, and it has created controversy among viewers born after 1975, especially when it comes to video games and Japanese animes. Rating systems and certain religious organizations advocate media restriction.See Also: censorship, controversy, public outcry, Entertainment Software Ratings Board, Classification and Ratings Administration, Millerite, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventist, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, Doom
