Masovian Voivodship

It was created on 1 January 1999 out of the former Warsaw, Plock, Ciechanow, Ostroleka, Siedlce and Radom voivodships as a result of Local Goverment Reorganization Act of 1998. The voivodship's name recalls the region's traditional name of Mazovia (Mazowsze) with which it more or less corresponds.
42 counties (4 city counties + 38 land counties), and 325 communes (including 85 urban communes or cities).
