Market risk

In finance, there are many risks associated with buying a product such as shares as an investment. The most obvious of these is that their price may move against you.

This risk -- that your forecast about the value of an investment will turn out to be incorrect, resulting in a loss -- is known as 'market risk'.

Market risk is typically measured using a Value at Risk methodology.
