Major Leagues
The Major Leagues, also known as
Major League Baseball or "MLB," are the two major professional baseball leagues in North America; the
National League, founded in 1876, and the
American League, founded in 1901. Once bitter competitors, the two are now amalgamated into the same general organizational structure. The champions of the two leagues face eath other in the
World Series every October, a best-of-seven games series that determines the overall MLB champion.
