Luca Signorelli

Luca Signorelli (c.1445-1523), Umbrian painter, is noted for his ability as a draughtsman and his use of foreshortening. His work shows his interest in anatomy.

His masterpiece is considered to be his fresco of the Last Judgment (1499) in Orvieto Cathedral. His other work includes:

• The Circumcision (c.1490-91)
• The Adoration of the Shepherds (1496) painted for the church of San Francesco in Città di Castello
• Calvary (1505)
• The Coronation of the Virgin (1508) painted for the Filippini Chapel in the church of San Francesco, Arcevia
• An altarpiece of the Virgin and Child with Saints (1515) painted for a chapel in the church of San Francesco, Montone
