Love Boat

The Love Boat was a TV series aired on the ABC Television Network from 1977 until 1986. Action was always set about a cruiseliner called Pacific Princess, whose passengers and crew had romantic and funny adventures every week.

The show was based on the same premise as the 1956-60 television hit, "The Gale Storm Show, Oh! Susanna."

The Overseas Chinese Youth Language Training and Study Tour to the Republic of China is a three month summer program for about 500 college aged overseas Chinese, which is much more commonly known among its participants as the Love Boat. In Chinese it is also colloquially referred to as mei-jia-ying an acronym of United States, Canada, United Kingdom where most the participants come from.

The study tour is sponsored by the China Youth Corp of the Republic of China government.

The camps formal purpose is to teach college aged overseas Chinese about Chinese culture and language, however the intention of the parents who send their sons and daugthers to the tour is largely so that they meet other eligible overseas Chinese, from which the program gets its nickname.
