Lord Keeper

The Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England was formerly an officer of the English Crown charged with physical custody of the Great Seal. This evolved into one of the great offices of state. The last Lord Keeper was appointed under George III. See also Lord Privy Seal and Privy Seal.
