Laura Kate Smither
Laura Kate Smither (April 23, 1984 - April 1997) was a murder victim whom the Laura Recovery Center is named after.Her parents are Bob Smither and Gay Smither.
The 12-year old girl, who was homeschooled, was kidnapped near her Friendswood, Texas, home on April 3, 1997, while she was jogging. A valiant search, which consisted of 6,000 people and stretched 800 miles, was put up for her.
She was found dead on April 20. She was naked and decapitated when her body was found in a pipe, near a pond 10 miles from her house.
