Knowledge gap hypothesis

The knowledge-gap hypothesis was propounded by Phillip J. Tichenor, and colleagues. The concept of a digital divide is linked to this hypothesis, although its development has been independent.

Knowledge-gap hypothesis suggests that each new medium increases the gap between information rich and information poor, becauses of differences in access to medium and control over use, along with other factors.
