Howl's Moving Castle

Howl's Moving Castle is a fantasy novel by Diana Wynne Jones. It is about a young woman called Sophie Hatter who is turned into an old crone by a powerful witch whom she inadvertantly offends, and finds work as a housekeeper for the notorious Wizard Howl (who is said to collect the hearts of beautiful young women). There is a sequel titled Castle in the Air.

As of 2003, an anime film based on the novel is in production, directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli. Walt Disney Pictures will be releasing the film in the US.
