Highgate tube station
Highgate tube station is on the Northern Line. It is situated below ground. A plan before World War II to build an above-ground station at Highgate to serve other local areas was scrapped, but even today the deserted above ground buildings are visible. The platforms at Highgate are the deepest below the surface on the London Underground, partly because the staion is near the top of Highgate Hill.
Before Highgate tube station was built, Archway tube station was known as Highgate tube station.
