Hacker culture

Hacker cultures commonly encourage:

• freedom
• sharing information
• right to fork

These sort of cultures are commonly found at academic settings such as college campuses. The MIT AI labs and University of California, Berkeley are well known beds of hacker culture. The Wikipedia itself can be considered an instance of hacker culture.
