Gyanendra of Nepal

King Gyanendra of Nepal (born July 7, 1947) was the king of Nepal from 1950 to 1951 and then again from 2001 to the present. The younger son of Prince (later king) Mahendra, as an infant he was king for two months when the rest of his family was in exile. His grandfather Tribhuvan became king again when the Rana family conceeded power.

Fifty years later, when his nephew, Dipendra killed most of the family, including king Birendra brother of Gyanendra, he became king again. He has tried to exercise more control over the government in order to combat the Maoist rebellion and other problems.
