Ground sloth
Ground sloths are extinct relatives of tree sloths and three-toed sloths that died out approximately 10,000 years ago. The four species consist of Harlan's ground sloth (Paramylodon harlani), Jefferson's ground sloth (Megalonyx jeffersonii), Laurillard's ground sloth (Eremotherium laurillardi), and the Shasta ground sloth (Nothrotheriops shastensis).Jefferson's and Harlan's ground sloths may be found as fossil remnants in the midwestern United States.
All four were large animals with large claws. They were herbivores.
