Flaviviridae

Flaviviridae are a family of viruses that infect mammals. The taxon includes the flavivirus (yellow fever, West Nile virus), pestivirus, and Hepatitis C-like viruses (Hepatitis C) groups.

The genome of the Flaviviridae viruses is a monopartite, linear, single-stranded RNA of 10,000-11,000 nucleotides. The 5'-terminus carries a methylated nucleotide cap or a genome-linked protein. The virus itself is enveloped and spherical, about 40-60 nm in diameter.
