Dominion Day
Dominion Day is the name given to 26 September, the anniversary of the day New Zealand was granted dominion status within the British Empire in 1907. It also used to be given to July 1, the day Canada was created as a country in 1867, but that holiday was renamed to Canada Day in 1982.NB: Dominion status should not be confused with the virtually full independence granted in the Statute of Westminster Adoption Act 1947 of the New Zealand Parliament, nor the Constitution Act 1986.
