gymnosperm tree family,
Cupressaceae (Cypress Family). Most plants bearing the common name
cypress are in the genera
Cupressus or
Chamaecyparis. However, several other similar tree species and one unrelated
angiosperm vine also include the term:
- Bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) and other Taxodiaceae
- Cypress vine tree (Ipomoea quamoclit)
- False cypress tree (Chamaecyparis sp.)
- Leyland cypress tree (Cupressocyparis leylandii)
