Courtney Love

Courtney Love (born Courtney Michelle Harrison,July 9, 1965) (some sources say 1964) is a singer and guitarist for the band Hole and occasional model and actress. Love is the widow of Kurt Cobain (1967-1994), singer in the band Nirvana, with whom she has one daughter, Frances Bean, and is the granddaughter of Marlon Brando.

In her early career Love modelled a 'baby doll' look, which she was accused of having ripped off of Kat Bjelland of Babes in Toyland. Courtney herself stated that the look was inspired by Christina Amphlett of 1980s rock group The Divinyls. Love's style has since evolved, and she has modelled for more sophisticated, designer labels.

Love attempted to begin a 'punk rock femme supergroup' during summer/autumn 2001 called Bastard. Hole broke up in 2001, amidst continuing litigation. Love in October 2001 performed in some solo shows as an opening act.

Courtney Love has also been an outspoken critic of the music industry, which she says exploits musicians unfairly.

In the 1997 film The People vs. Larry Flynt, Love received considerable acclaim for her role as Flynt's wife, Althea.

In 2003, she pleaded innocent to felony drug charges, related to possession of painkillers, as her acting and musical careers seem to have come to a standstill.
